There are wired and wireless versions of the Xbox 360 controller:
Wired – The green LED on the front of the controller will be lit during the entire session of charging.
Wireless – On your Xbox, go to Profile & System > Settings > Devices & Connections > Accessories > “More options”.
How To Fix When Xbox 360 Controller Not Charging?
Your Xbox 360 wireless controller’s charging ability may be disrupted due to many factors.
However, there are certain delicate situations where your controller will not charge due to certain reasons.
The problem could be related to:
The charging port
The controller
The adapter
The power source/cable
We’ll begin by excluding the possibilities one by one by applying some easy-to-follow solutions that are recommended by users with the same issue as yours.
Solution #1 Use Different Charging Sources
Your 360 controller can be charged in many instances. It can either charge from the Xbox 360 console itself, a computer, or directly from a power adapter.
In this solution, you should test charging your controller from different sources to determine where the problem is.
Charging Sources on Xbox 360
On your Xbox 360 controller, there are three 2.0 USB ports in total.
If you were charging your controller from a single USB all the time until now, the port could have gone faulty.
Make sure to plug your controller’s charger into each of the USB ports and test for the charging.
Directly From a Power Source
Using a standard adapter, you can charge your 360 controllers directly from a power source.
All you have to do is connect the charging cable to the USB adapter and then connect the adapter to your controller.

Solution #2 Use Different Charging Cable

Solution #3 Connect To An Alternative Adapter
If you’re using an adapter to charge your controller (directly into a power source), the problem may also be with the adapter.

Solution #5 Reset The Controller
If the charging is still not successful, you should perform a reset on your 360 controllers.

Here’s how to perform a reset on your Xbox 360 controller:
Disconnect the controller from the Xbox 360 console.
Next, press and hold the Start button, next to the Xbox logo.
While holding the Start button down, reconnect the controller to the console.
Keep holding the button until the Xbox logo on the controller starts flashing.
Once the flashing stops, let go of the Start button.
Your controller should now be reset.
